Bare Escentuals Angled Brow Brush Review | Precision Goat Hair To Fill Brows

Saturday, August 21st, 2010

Bare Escentuals Angled brow brushBare Escentuals Angled Brow Brush is designed for the use of bareMinerals brow color. This arched brush should make it quick and easy to fill brows, leaving them looking natural. It is made from a blend of Taklon fibers and goat hair.

When filling the brows I think it is better to use a angled brush as it is more precise and gives a natural looking brow.

Users Conclusions

Pros

  • Quick and easy to use
  • Provides a natural shape
  • Short stiff bristles

Cons

  • A little expensive
  • Made from goat hair

Tips

This brush is also good for applying powder eye shadow along the lash line as a eyeliner.

To Sum Up

Overall the comments on this brow brush are pretty positive. Most Bare Escentuals fans think it is easy to use and like the stiff short bristles. Some users don't like that it is made from goat hair, they would prefer it to be synthetic.

The price is a little on the high side just for a brow brush at $12, but many users agree that it is a good quality brush.

Clarins Self Tanning Instant Gel Review | Non Oily Natural All Over Light Weight Tanner

Friday, August 20th, 2010

Clarins Self Tanning LotionClarins Self Tanning Instant Gel designed to provide a natural glow with its light weight non oily formula.

It should absorb instantly, so you shouldn't have to wait before dressing and its suitable to use all over the face and body. You should see results in about 2 hours after application.

I don't know about you but I'm a little weiry of self tanners, all the ones I have tried make me look orange! I think it is harder for me and other pale girls to find a natural self tanner, it just is so obvious its fake when applied to pure white skin.

Users Conclusions

Pros

  • No patches
  • Moisturizing
  • Clear gel
  • No orange color
  • Natural
  • A little goes a long way

Cons

  • Weird smell
  • Expensive

Tips

For best results with any self tanner always exfoliate and moisturize before application. Then there will be less chance of horrid dry patches becoming darker than the rest of your skin.

Ingredients

DHA & Erythrulose: promotes a natural tan, Larrea Divaricata extract: prolongs tan.

To Sum Up

Most users have found it created a natural looking tan for them. The only disadvantages they spoke of was that it smells a bit weird and is expensive at $32.50 for a 4.4 oz tube. Personally I don't think it is that over priced especially if it actually gives a natural tan.

Arcona Magic White Ice Moisturizing Gel Review | Naturally Hydrates & Tones All Skin Types

Thursday, August 19th, 2010

Arcona Magic White IceArcona Magic White Ice is a natural anti-microbial hydrating gel suitable for all skin types. White Ice is formulated to moisturize, tone and help stimulate cell renewal.

Arcona is proud of the fact that it only uses natural ingredients in all its skin care lines. It doesn't use chemical stabilizers, petro-chemicals or fillers.

Acona says that White Ice should be used within 6 months of opening, as it is made with natural ingredients so they won't last as long as other products.

Users Conclusions

Listed below is a summary of what users have been saying in online reviews:

Pros

  • Very light
  • Absorbs into the skin
  • Provides just enough moisture
  • Cleans pores
  • Great for oily skin

Cons

  • Strong scent (very few didn't like the smell but most people like it)
  • Could be irritating to sensitive skin, although most people had no noticeable irritation
  • Not enough moisture for dry skin

Tips

I think the best way to apply this as with most moisturizing gels, is to apply a small amount to the palms, add a couple of drops of water, then apply a thin layer to the skin.

Ingredients

Agua (Distilled Water), Hamamelis Virginiana Extract (Witch Hazel), Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract, Hyaluronic Acid, Glycerin, Vaccinium Macrocarpon Fruit Extract (Cranberry), Camellia Sinensis Extract (White Tea), Totara Extract, Pyrus Malus Fruit Extract (Apple), Allantoin, Beta Carotene (Vitamin A), Panthenol (Vitamin B-5), Ascorbic Acid Ester (Vitamin C), Tocotrienols (Vitamin E), Grapefruit Seed Extract (Citrus Grandis).

To Sum Up

Arcona Magic White Ice Hydrating Gel is expensive at $38 for a 30ml bottle.

However, for those oily complexion it could be worth the extra as many have reported it doesn't cause out breaks compared to other moisturizers.

Stila #28 Smudge Pot Brush Review | Double Ended Soft Bristle Brush for Eyes

Wednesday, August 18th, 2010

Stila Smudge pot brushStila #28 Smudge Pot Brush is a thin brush that is used to apply a thin line along the lash line, while the other end is a bigger brush used to smudge to create a smokey eye. Stila says this brush is designed to be used with Stila's smudge pots, but you can use it for any product really.

This double ended brush has good reviews on Sephora. Users say that it has soft bristles, its quick and easy to use and worth the high price.

A few ladies found that it worked well but if your using it in conjunction with the Stila smudge pots it becomes a hassle because it needs to be washed every time you use it.

Others thought the eyeliner end of the brush was to soft and found that some of the bristles fell out while they were using it.

To Sum Up

Considering how expensive this brush is it is nothing superior according to most of the ladies that have purchased it. They said some bristles fall out and it's a hassle to wash it after every use.

Stila #28 Smudge Pot Brush costs $32. I know that it is a 2-in-1 brush but that is just over priced to me. There are plenty of cheaper brushes out there that will work just as well in my opinion.

Colorescience Foundation Brush Review | Foundation & Bronzer In 1 With SPF 20

Tuesday, August 17th, 2010

Colorscience Foundation Brush SPFColorescience Foundation Brush has a built SPF 20 and it offers refills in 11 different shades. This sounds like a good product. I like the fact it has a built in SPF, this is very important for protecting your skin against sun damage.

It is supposed to give flawless coverage that feels weightless and you apparently don't need to use a lot of product. If that's true, that is another plus for this product.

Does it really work?

I have looked on a lot of review sites to find something negative about this product but I can't find one. This foundation brush has brill reviews. Here is a list of some of the comments ladies from Amazon said:

  • Compact
  • Easy to use
  • Non messy mineral makeup
  • Light weight and flawless finish

Ingredients

Titanium Dioxide, Bismuth Oxychloride, Iron Oxide, Mica. May Contain: Manganese Violet, Ultramarine Blue, Chromium Oxide, Carmine.

Colorescience Foundation Brush SPF 20 sells for around $60. Which is very expensive but the reviews speak for themselves. I didn't hear any makeup guru's complaining about the price. If its in your budget maybe it wouls be worth while to give it a try.

Colorescience have tested it and said it is waterproof for up to eight hours. There are darker shades available so you can use it as a bronzer and foundation in one.

Monday, August 16th, 2010

Kerastase Nutrition ShampooKerastase Nutritive Bain Oleo Relax by Kerastase is a shampoo designed to cleanse and detangle hair, leaving to soft and shiny. This shampoo is made for dry and rebellious hair. The thing I like about this product is that its never tested on animals.

Reviews for this product are very good most ladies got the results they wanted. They said it made their hair less frizzy, made hair soft and shiny and they found the product went along way. Which is a good thing considering the price of this shampoo.

Another user found that Kerastase worked O.K, but for the high price she expected it to give her hair more moisture than it did.

Ingredients

Aqua/Water, Sodium Laureth Sulfate, Coco Betaine, Laureth-5 Carboxylic Acid, Cocamide MIPA, Trimethylsilyamodimethicone, Sodium Chloride, Polyquaternium 10, Sodium Salicylate, Benzophenone-4, Benzoic Acid, Methylparaben, Sodium Hydroxide, Butylparaben, Et.

Kerastase by Kerastase: Nutritive Bain Oleo-Relax (34 oz) bottle costs a whopping $27. Which is just so expensive for a shampoo compared to a lot of other good shampoos out there that are a faction of the price.

Helen Of Troy 1-1/2″ Hot Air Brush Review | Dry & Style Tangle Free

Sunday, August 15th, 2010

Helen Of Troy Hot Air StylerHelen of Troy 1-1/2" Hot Air Brush is designed to dry and style hair at the same time without tangling. The barrel is 1-1/2" so it should give you full curls and great volume. The barrel also locks in place for curling ans unlocks for unwinding.

The motor is only 250 watt which Helen Of Troy says is powerful for quick drying. Personally I don't think that is very powerful, probably powerful enough for fine hair but not thick long hair.

What users think of this hot air brush

Pros

  • Helps make curls last longer
  • Good for fine hair
  • Doesn't burn hair

Cons

  • Doesn't get hot enough
  • Poor quality
  • Tangles hair

To Sum Up

As you can see this hot air brush has got very mixed reviews. As I said earlier I think this hot air brush is suited better to ladies with fine short hair.

Helen Of Troy Hot Air Brush retails for $23.95. Which is quite a reasonable price compared to some brands.

  • Instant cold shot button

  • 2000 Watts

Ladies from folicia.com have mostly only good things to say about this hair dryer. They like that it drys their hair quicker and stops it from getting as frizzy.

Quite a few ladies seemed to agree that this dryer is a little too heavy, so it does ache the arm a little. Oh well just think of it as a warm up before a workout!

To Sum Up

It seems this is no miracle hair dryer but it does dry hair faster and prevent that dreaded frizz we all hate.

However, Some of the ladies using it think it is a little heavy so can cause your arm to ache a little, or give you one muscly one!

If you are interested in buying Babyliss Pro Ceramix xtreme Dryer 2000 watts it usually costs around $54.50. Which is a average price for a good quality dryer.

T3 Bespoke Labs 83808-SE Featherweight Professional Ionic Ceramic Tourmaline Hair Dryer Review | Light Weight & Fast Drying

Friday, August 13th, 2010

T3 Bespoke Labs Hair DryerBespoke Labs Featherweight Professional Ionic Ceramic Hair Dryer is a powerful 1800 watts, but it only weighs 13 ounces. It also comes with a removable filter and screen, 2 speed settings and cool shot, as well as an ionized concentrator.

It promises to:

  • Dry hair 60% faster
  • Eliminate the "frizzy look"
  • Add moisture & sheen

This certainly sounds like a good hair dryer especially if it eliminates frizz. I hate blow drying my hair cause it looks so fluffy and feels dry after wards.

There are mixed reviews on this product. One person from epinions.com says how the hair dryer made her hair look healthier, shinier and cut down her drying time.

While another user said it was a waste of money because it isn't very powerful and didn't cut down her drying time. That was the main reason she brought it.

To Sum Up

I think this hair dryer would be best suited for when traveling as it is lightweight and for someone with short or fine hair, as some ladies found it wasn't powerful enough to dry their thick long hair.

T3 Bespoke Labs 83808-SE Featherweight Professional Ionic Ceramic Tourmaline Hair Dryer can be bought for $91.95 as it is on sale. It normally costs $200. Which I think is a lot to spend on a hair dryer, but if it stops hair from frizzing it may be worth it.
